Hello,
In 2016, the International Nursing Doula Association established "Nursing Doula®," a unique certification that empowers nursing professionals in Japan to fully utilize their medical expertise and life experience.
Through our Nursing Doula® Training Course—the first of its kind in the world—you can learn the essential skills to launch your own practice, whether in Japan or internationally.
Imagine your future: As a licensed nurse, how would it feel to take your clinical knowledge and transition into your own independent practice as a "Nursing Doula®"?
Currently, this course is open to Japanese Registered Nurses with at least one year of clinical experience. (We are also preparing to expand this opportunity to nurses licensed in other countries in the near future.)
Why become a Nursing Doula?
As a nurse, you possess a unique blend of skill and compassion.
You can walk alongside families during the perinatal journey, using your clinical SOAP skills to offer truly holistic support in their daily lives.
Our mission is to help families rediscover the joy of raising children and maintaining a healthy life.
With your expertise, we can build a community filled with smiles.
"Am I ready?"
We often hear questions like:
・Do I need experience in obstetrics or pediatrics?
・Should I have my own experience with childbirth or child-rearing?
・Do I need home-visiting nursing experience?
And many nurses tell us, "I’m so busy with my current work that I’m not sure I can take a new step."
Rest assured.
Your nursing expertise is invaluable and more than enough to start this rewarding journey.
If you have at least one year of clinical experience, you are ready to begin.
As a nurse, you can utilize your experience and knowledge to support mothers and children in their daily lives before and after childbirth.
Based on SOAP - "subject" "object" "assessment" and "plan",
we want to convey to families the joy of raising children and how to live a healthy life.
With our experience and knowledge, we can contribute to the creation of a community that brings smiles to the families.
The Nursing Doula® Training Course is designed to help you become a professional postpartum doula.
We often receive questions such as:
Is experience in obstetrics or pediatrics required?
Should I have experience of childbirth or child rearing?
Should I have experience in visiting nursing?
In some cases, you may say,
"I'm so busy with work that I can't take a break..."
That's okay.
After all, you are a nationally qualified "Nurse'',
who has passed the exam after taking many hours of classes and practical training.
So, do not worry about it.
If you have at least one year of experience as a nurse you are qualified to take the course.
The course has 3 steps.
With these 3 steps, including the basics of opening your own business,
the association and alumni members from all over Japan will provide one-on-one support.
You may also apply one step at a time.
By returning to the basics of nursing,
through this course you can reaffirm the joy of nursing.
Classes begin on the first Saturday of every month.
We'd like to welcome you to
give cuddles after childbirth,
bringing smiles of those families,
and to the community and region,
a caring and supportive nursing professional.
Let's become a Nursing Doula®!!
In Japan, a Public Health Nurse, Midwife, and Nurse Act defines "care for medical treatment'' as work.
A nursing doula professional is a nationally qualified person who can support both the mind and body of families before and after giving birth.
To all nursing professionals,
Let's go out to the community and deliver the smiles and peace of mind of nurses to families before and after childbirth.
